The Ex-Raider Who Writes Everything Down
I am Frederick Russell, and I have the notebooks to prove every claim on this site. It started in Destiny 2, where our raid leader demanded written callouts for every encounter. I kept the habit long after the clan scattered: shooters, extraction zones, and now Azeroth, all documented in the same messy handwriting.
Why Paper Beats Memory
Memory lies about games. It remembers the clutch saves and forgets the ten wipes caused by the same missed interrupt. My notebooks do not flatter me, which makes them honest. When I write that a route takes eleven minutes, it is because the stopwatch said so three times, not because it felt fast once.
From Notebook to Guide
Not everything deserves publishing. Each month I reread the month before and mark the pages that still hold up. Roughly a third survive: a cleaner interrupt rotation here, a cheaper consumable stack there, one farm route that keeps beating the alternatives. Those survivors become guides. The rest stay as warnings to myself.
What I Play Right Now
WoW Forever takes most evenings: dungeon etiquette notes, interface profiles built from zero, and gold pages written with a stopwatch running. Around that core orbit Destiny 2 raids for ritual, extraction shooters for adrenaline, and whatever friends install next. The notebooks do not discriminate.
“Write it down or it did not happen. That goes for wipe causes most of all.”
